ENGLEWOOD, COLO., MAY 14, 2007 – Jeppesen will provide to one of the worlds largest airlines, ANA (All Nippon Airways), Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) applications and data as part of an overall transition strategy from paper to digital navigation and document solutions. ANA will be the first airline in Japan to operate the Boeing Class 3 EFB on its 777s, which will set the stage for an EFB implementation across its fleet of 50 new 787s that will be delivered in 2008.
“We are excited to begin using this new technology in advance of the delivery of our 787 fleet,” said Mitsuo Morimoto, ANA’s executive vice president, Flight Operations. “We have worked closely with Jeppesen to create a tool that will bring greater performance efficiencies and help us carry our passengers in even greater safety.”
Jeppesen is working closely with ANA to bring together a successful EFB program that includes Jeppesen’s industry-standard terminal charts for EFBs, airport moving map, onboard performance tool, a document viewer, and the Jeppesen Data Distribution and Management system that administers a critical piece of a customer’s EFB program—software configuration management and the ability to consistently deliver flight critical data accurately, securely and on-time to the EFB.
"We are very pleased to support ANA with our EFB solutions,” said Thomas Wede, Jeppesen senior vice president and general manager, Commercial and Military Aviation. “ANA has been a progressive user of Jeppesen technology for more than 20 years. We are proud to contribute to the continued success of this wonderful customer.”
Jeppesen is the first and only provider to have its EFB applications in service across all three classes of EFBs, and Jeppesen is the only company with its EFB applications and support systems currently in service with airlines and military flying units around the world. As a result of working agreements with both Boeing and Airbus, and numerous EFB hardware providers, Jeppesen can deploy its solution across diverse fleets of new and existing aircraft, and across Class 1, 2 or 3 EFB platforms, all while maintaining EFB data and software continuity.
Jeppesen is the only company able to offer its customers a Total Mission Solution, including EFB, airline operations services, and full chart and document logistics management. Only Jeppesen brings all of this together and delivers real world solutions from a single trusted source.
