TSA Awards Information Technology Contract to IBM

WASHINGTON – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today that it has awarded its Information Technology (IT) and software services contract to IBM Global Business Services. The contract has an initial award amount of $98.5 million and runs for five years. The agreement brings all of TSA’s software application development under IBM’s management. In the past, services were provided by several different contractors divided between several companies. The use of one contractor will foster a closer working relationship, improve communications and provide the greatest value to TSA both in technical capabilities and price.

"This contract provides the government with value and reliability in IT software applications development," said Rick Gunderson, TSA’s assistant administrator for acquisition. "By partnering with one industry team, TSA is able to increase efficiency and communication while reducing the overall cost to the agency."

The contract was competitively awarded for the Operational Applications Support and Information Services (OASIS) requirement under the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Enterprise Acquisition Gateway for Leading Edge Solutions (EAGLE) program. Under EAGLE, DHS is establishing department-wide contracts for IT services and commodities.
