25/01/08: Thales Air Traffic Management system in Denmark is fully operational: Integrated Air Traffic Management System for Copenhagen, Roskilde and Billund

NAVIAIR, the Danish Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP), has gone through the transition process now making the new Thales-supplied EUROCAT system fully operational since 29th December 2007 The DATMAS contract was awarded to Thales in June 2002 for the supply of the latest state of the art integrated EUROCAT air traffic management system. With close to 80 controller working positions, these new centres will provide a complete en-route and terminal control capability for the airports of Copenhagen, Roskilde and Billund. The DATMAS system was commissioned in September 2006, 3 months ahead of the planned schedule.

25/01/08: EADS-CASA reduces time in aircraft ground vibration testing with LMS Test.Lab: Deployment project enables EADS-CASA to improve the structural dynamics analysis and compress testing cycle time for the Airbus A330 MRTT

Leuven, Belgium - January 24, 2008 - LMS, the engineering innovation company, announced today that EADS-CASA has implemented LMS Test.Lab to accelerate its processes for ground vibration testing. This aircraft testing process includes a series of tests to detect the aircraft resonances as a verification of the aircraft safety and reliability before the first actual test flights. The LMS Test Lab Ground Vibration Testing (GVT) solution includes integrated testing and analysis software and is based on interconnected LMS SCADAS III data acquisition front-ends adding up to over 700 channels. This represents one of the largest channel count systems for aerospace dynamic testing. EADS-CASA co-operated with LMS Engineering Services and Alava Ingenieros, LMS’ representative in Spain, to gain an in-depth understanding of best practices in ground vibration testing and to accelerate the deployment of the LMS Test.Lab solution.

24/01/08: Controlware provides IP CCTV solution for new terminal extension at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport

Controlware Communications has provided an IP CCTV transmission system to Aéroports de Paris Group for the new Galerie Parisienne terminal extension at Charles de Gaulle airport. Aéroports de Paris Group are Europe’s second largest airport group, managing 14 airports, and aerodromes including Paris-Orly, Paris-Charles de Gaulle, and Paris-Le Bourget. As the airport authority for the Paris region, Aéroports de Paris requires the highest level of security to safeguard passengers, airline companies and partners. Controlware has been working closely with the Direction Informatique et Télécommunications department at Aéroports de Paris since 2003 when they embarked on an ambitious CCTV upgrade programme to improve the level of security throughout their airports. As part of this huge project Controlware was selected to supply video codec’s that enable video from analogue cameras to be streamed over IP networks. Controlware has assisted Aéroports de Paris with the evolution and expansion of their surveillance network and has supplied codec’s that to date support a total of 5461 cameras.

24/01/08: Hong Kong Airlines selects Rolls-Royce Trent 700 for new A330 fleet

Hong Kong Airlines has chosen Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines to power its new fleet of 20 Airbus A330-300s. Including a TotalCare® long-term services agreement, the value of the business is around $1.2 billion at list prices. Deliveries start in 2010. The announcement maintains the Trent 700’s 100 per cent record in mainland China, where it has been selected for all 125 A330s in service or on order. Hong Kong Airlines is a new customer for Rolls-Royce. Ren Weidong, Executive Chairman of Hong Kong Airlines, said: “The Trent 700 is clearly the best solution for our A330 fleet. Its outstanding reliability and operational flexibility mean it does not limit the routes that our aircraft can operate, giving our passengers maximum choice.”

23/01/08: BAE Systems Regional Aircraft wins $75 million Spares by the Hour support programme contracts

Prestwick, Scotland…..BAE Systems Regional Aircraft has enjoyed continuing success for its JetSpares and MACRO ‘spares by the hour’ customised spares support packages, winning new business worth over $75 million during the year. The biggest contract, which was signed during the last few days of the year, was with Ireland’s CityJet, the wholly-owned Air France subsidiary. This JetSpares contract renewal covers all 23 Avro RJ85s in the airline’s fleet, together with interim BAe 146 coverage, and is valid for three years. Contract renewals are a significant endorsement by customers of the value of the ‘spares by the hour’ programmes and Regional Aircraft also secured extension business with Titan Airways of the UK across four BAe 146s for a four-year term and with Blue 1 of Finland for five Avro RJs for a five-year period.

23/01/08: BAE Systems Regional Aircraft gains new contracts for its spares shipping service

Weybridge, Surrey…BAE Systems Regional Aircraft has won new contracts from other BAE Systems business units for its Spares Shipping Service, based at the Spares Logistics Centre (SLC) in Weybridge, Surrey. This service was established at the SLC in 1998 in order to meet customer airline demands for a complete spares delivery support package from placement of order to arrival at any destination worldwide. Currently some 30 of the top Regional Aircraft customers have signed up to this ‘one-stop shop’ logistics service to meet all their spares shipping needs. The expertise offered by the SLC is being marketed to other parts of BAE Systems who are attracted by the specialist service offered and the considerable overall cost savings that result.

23/01/08: BAE systems announces improved spares support services for Jetstream 31/32 aircraft

Prestwick, Scotland…BAE Systems Regional Aircraft announces the appointment of Saywell International as its sole distributor of spares for the Jetstream 31/32 regional turboprop aircraft. The agreement comes into force from February 4, 2008. BAE Systems itself will continue to provide full technical and continued airworthiness support and delivery of technical publications to the Jetstream 31/32 fleet. A multi-million pound stock inventory is being transferred from Regional Aircraft’s Spares Logistics Centre at Weybridge, Surrey, to the Saywell International facility at Worthing in South-east England. Saywell also has a spares distribution centre in Hollywood, Florida, USA, as well as offices in Vancouver and Singapore. A large pool of rotable components is available and distribution agreements are already in place with manufacturers of consumable parts.

23/01/08: BAE Systems REgional Aircraft and Ansett Spares & Services plan long term collaboration: Co-location at Regional Aircraft’s Weybridge Spares Centre is the first move

Weybridge, Surrey…In a joint announcement today, BAE Systems Regional Aircraft and Ansett Spares & Services, as a first step to developing a long-term relationship, have signed an agreement under which Ansett will relocate its current operations and inventory at Heathrow to Regional Aircraft’s Spares Logistics Centre at Weybridge, Surrey. The inventory includes spares for civil aircraft of all major commercial aircraft manufacturers. Additionally, Ansett has also purchased a substantial amount of surplus BAe 146/Avro RJ spares stock from Regional Aircraft to add to its existing inventory. This will enhance the company’s ability to support its expanding marketing strategy for growth in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Ansett has comprehensive inventories of spares maintained at its sales and distribution centres in Heathrow, UK, Melbourne, Australia and Los Angeles, USA. 23/01/08: BAE Systems Regional Aircraft spares business positioned for the future

Prestwick, Scotland….BAE Systems Regional Aircraft has carried out a number of major reviews of its spares support business and has taken steps to position it to meet changing future market needs. The current business provides spares support for around 800 aircraft worldwide and has a yearly turnover of some $150 million. It provides a continuing spares sales and AOG (aircraft on ground) service operated from its Prestwick, Scotland, headquarters and with warehousing and logistics located at the Weybridge, Surrey, Spares Logistics Centre (SLC). It also has a growing e-business selling Spares on the Web. It operates ‘spares by the hour’ services with 180 aircraft enrolled on to its JetSpares (jets) and MACRO (turboprop) programmes and is enjoying increasing success selling its logistics expertise to third parties.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (January 21, 2008) - V Australia, the new international long-haul airline of Australia launched recently by Virgin Blue, has selected a suite of Rockwell Collins avionics for seven firm and six option Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. 23/01/08: Pratt & Whitney Canada Joins Virgin Galactic to Celebrate Unveiling of SpaceshipTwo and WhiteKnightTwo Models

LONGUEUIL, QUE. – January 23, 2008 – Pratt & Whitney Canada today joins Virgin Galactic in New York City to unveil detailed scale models of the world’s first commercial passenger suborbital spaceship, SpaceShipTwo (SS2), together with the launch aircraft, WhiteKnightTwo (WK2). Pratt & Whitney Canada’s PW308 turbofan is the engine selected to power WK2. Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) is a United Technologies (NYSE: UTX) company. The PW308 engine was chosen for WK2 by The Spaceship Company – a jointly owned Virgin Galactic and Scaled Composites company. 23/01/08: Goodrich Electronic Flight Bag Receives STC Certification for Bombardier Global Express

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Goodrich (NYSE: GR) announced today that its Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) system has received Supplemental Type Certification (STC) from Transport Canada for the Bombardier Global Express family of aircraft. 22/01/08: Hans Peter Ring hands over the Airbus CFO responsibility to Harald Wilhelm. Mr. Ring remains CFO of EADS

Amsterdam, 22 january 2008 – Hans Peter Ring, CFO of EADS, was assuming the additional role of CFO of Airbus since the 31 october 2006. This combined responsibility was brought about when it became apparent, in the context of the announcement of A380 delays, that integration between Airbus and EADS, its mother company, needed drastic improvement. As he announced last week at the Global Investors Forum, this integration of the finance function has been achieved. Hans Peter Ring will be refocusing his time and effort on his role as CFO of EADS. As of 1st February 2007, he will hand over the Airbus CFO responsibility to his deputy at Airbus, Harald Wilhelm. Harald Wilhelm was previously Airbus Chief Controlling Officer.

22/01/08: Rolls-Royce and Turbomeca (Safran Group) extend ADOUR Agreement

Rolls-Royce and Turbomeca (SAFRAN Group) have extended Europe’s longest-running aerospace joint venture by renewing their collaboration on the Adour engine for a further 30 years. Co-operation between Rolls-Royce and Turbomeca began in May 1965, with the agreement between the British and French governments to build the Jaguar fighter / trainer aircraft. Six months later, the partnership was selected to develop and supply the Adour engine for the Jaguar. The Adour went on to power the Hawk trainer aircraft and, with the advent of its latest and most advanced variant, the Mk951, the engine is demonstrating its continued evolution. As a result, today’s engine for the Hawk has been redesigned completely to offer customers a modern power system tailored to the trainer requirement. The Mk951 also benefits from the integration of the very latest in both civil and defence engine technologies and has been selected for two future UCAV studies, the European nEUROn and the UK’s Taranis development programmes.

22/01/08: SITA moves Travelsky to IP Platform and sets up disaster recovery data centre in preparation for Beijing Olympics

GENEVA 22 January 2008–– China’s main GDS provider, Travelsky Technology Ltd. today announced that SITA is carrying out major improvements to its technology platform including the installation of a disaster-recovery data centre in Beijing as the country gears up for the 2008 Olympic Games. Airlines around the world are expected to increase the number of flights arriving in Beijing by over 70% during the Olympic Games. It is estimated that air traffic will peak three days before the Games Opening Ceremony on August 8 and three days after the closing ceremony on August 24 with an average of 1,900 flights per day compared to the usual average of 1,150.

22/01/08: China Airlines signs for Trent XWBs and TotalCare®

Rolls-Royce and Taiwan’s China Airlines have signed a contract for Trent XWB engines to power a fleet of 14 firm and 6 option Airbus A350 XWB twinjets. The potential value of the business, which includes a long-term TotalCare® services agreement, is US$1.3 billion at engine list prices. Deliveries begin in 2015. Selection of the engines was announced in December 2007 following the signing of a Letter of Intent between the airline and Airbus. It is the first time Rolls-Royce has been chosen as an engine supplier by China Airlines and marks the debut of the Trent series in Taiwan. Announced orders for the programme, including spare engines, total over 800 Trent XWBs with 13 customers. The Trent XWB is available in a range of thrusts from 74,000 to 92,000 lb, and a single engine type will power all versions of the A350 XWB.

22/01/08: New Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 and services agreements for European and Latin American Airlines

Rolls-Royce announced today that Spanish airline Air Europa and Latin American carrier LAN Airlines S.A., have selected high-efficiency, low-emission Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines for new and leased Boeing 787 Dreamliner twinjets. Both airlines have also signed long-term TotalCare® service agreements. Air Europa has selected Trent 1000s to power its new fleet of eight firm Boeing 787-8s. Including the TotalCare package, the value of the business is around $560 million at list prices. LAN has chosen the Trent 1000 for six leased Boeing 787-9s from International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC). Air Europa is wholly-owned by Grupo Globalia, one of the largest and most successful tourism groups in Spain. 18/01/08: QinetiQ agrees to purchase a third Australian defence consulting company: Acquisition of AeroStructures strengthens QinetiQ’s footprint in Australia

QinetiQ Group plc, an international defence and security technology company, announced today that it has signed an agreement to purchase the Melbourne, Australia-based engineering business of AeroStructures Group. 18/01/08: Goodrich Corporation Completes Acquisition of Skyline Industries, Inc.: Acquisition provides military helicopter seating market position and capabilities

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Goodrich Corporation (NYSE: GR) today announced the acquisition of Skyline Industries, Inc. (Skyline), a leading manufacturer of lightweight crashworthy military helicopter seats and helicopter floor armor. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Skyline employs around 40 people at its Fort Worth, Texas facility. Major customers include the U.S. Department of Defense, Eurocopter, Bell Helicopter and Boeing. The company began operations in 1960, and in 2007 generated approximately $7 million in revenue. “Skyline’s proven military helicopter seating technology is a great complement to Goodrich’s strong fixed wing aircraft seating capabilities.
