Australian Company Airflite Pty Ltd awarded contract for maintenance support of the RAAF PC9/A fleet

The Federal Government has approved a contract to provide continuing maintenance support of the Royal Australian Air Force’s PC9/A fleet of aircraft through to 2012. The PC9/A aircraft are used principally for the training of RAAF and Navy pilots. The Roulettes aerobatic team also uses the aircraft for displays. RAAF East Sale in Victoria and RAAF Pearce in Western Australia (WA) are the main operating bases for the aircraft.

Airflite Pty Ltd of Jandakot WA was awarded the contract valued at $114 million. Airflite Pty Ltd will operate two PC9/A Authorised Maintenance Organisations, one at RAAF East Sale in support of Central Flying School and the other at RAAF Pearce in support of No 2 Flying Training School.

Airflite Pty Ltd is a small to medium enterprise based in Perth, with operations across Australia and the region. It carries out both commercial and defence related aircraft operations and maintenance support. This is a major commercial agreement for Airflite an Australian company headquartered in WA, and provides significant continuing employment opportunities in both WA and Sale in regional Victoria

Airflite has successfully maintained the PC9/A fleet for the past 11 years. In addition to their maintenance obligations under this contract, I am pleased to advise that Airflite Pty Ltd has also undertaken to train up to 52 aircraft apprentices throughout the term of the contract and at no additional cost to the Commonwealth.
