Since 1971, AeroVironment has honored five requests from the Smithsonian Institute to display an AV accomplishment that demonstrated innovation, research, and discovery in science. The five vehicles that met the Smithsonian’s vision for display are only a small part of AeroVironment’s achievement of "Firsts" as a pioneer in energy efficiency and aerodynamic solutions.
AVSUAV Systems has evolved from that pioneering vision and today is a world leader in the design and manufacturing of Small Unmanned Air Vehicle (SUAV) solutions. Since the introduction of the Pointer in 1987, considered by many as the origin of SUAV technology, the U.S. Armed Forces have been supported with reconnaissance data, forest fires have been monitored, and volcanic plumes have been penetrated and analyzed by AeroVironment SUAVs. |
