SITA has two main subsidiaries: OnAir, which is leading the race to bring in-flight mobile telephony to the market, and CHAMP Cargosystems, the world’s only IT company solely dedicated to air cargo. SITA also operates two joint ventures providing services to the air transport community: Aviareto for aircraft asset management and CertiPath for secure electronic identity management.
We continue to be the only organization dedicated to providing the air transport industry with the information and communications technology (ICT) it needs to operate seamlessly in every corner of the world. Our global reach is based on local presence, with services for over 640 members and around 1,800 customers in over 220 countries and territories. Today, we employ people of more than 140 nationalities, proficient in over 70 different languages.

Working with, and for, the air transport community
As a partner with airlines, airports and the many related air transport organizations, SITA has worked closely with the community as it has evolved over the last 55 years. We’ve also evolved in that time to be a very different organization today than when we were founded in 1949 as the ‘Société Internationale de Télécommunications Aéronautiques’, now using only the shortened version of our name, as our history explains.
We’re unique in being owned by the community, with the SITA Board comprising shareholders and customers from across the air transport industry. We’re also unique in aiming to provide innovative and community-focused solutions that offer the industry greater cost-effectiveness - anywhere in the world.
Working with and for the air transport community, we are helping to drive and shape industry standards. We’ve spearheaded the definition of common-use technologies, for example, as well as hosted solutions, open IT standards … and more. In these endeavours, all of our initiatives and solutions aim to ensure interoperability and the cost-effective use of technologies for the industries we serve.
