Thielert Engine Award: Last scientific thesis submitted

Lichtenstein (Saxony)/Cologne, 25 October 2007 - The jury of the "Thielert Engine Award" under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. (Eng.) Norbert Deußen, Head of the Laboratory for Piston Engines and Calibration at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences has received the last of the student degree theses and will now decide on the winner of the award sponsored for the first time by Thielert Aircraft Engines GmbH.  The Thielert Aircraft Engines GmbH, leading manufacturer of kerosene piston engines for General Aviation, offered the "Thielert Engine Award" as a reward for outstanding student degree theses at the Faculty of Process Engineering, Energy and Mechanical Systems of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences for the first time in August this year. Now the last scientific theses have been submitted and await assessment.

"Making a choice will not be easy for us as a number of very good and interesting scientific theses have been submitted," Prof. Dr. (Eng.) Norbert Deußen, chairman of the jury, said. "We will study the submitted theses in detail over the coming weeks and select the best ones."

The final decision will be made at the beginning of December. The awards will be presented to the winners on 10 December 2007 during the "Engine Colloquium" at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences. The "Thielert Engine Award" is endowed with two prizes of 2,000 euros and 1,000 euros respectively. In addition, Thielert is supporting the "Engine Colloquium" as lead sponsor.
