AgustaWestland is pleased to announce that Motorbike World Champion Mick Doohan has taken delivery of a Grand light twin turbine engine helicopter during an official handover ceremony held at AgustaWestland’s Vergiate plant in Italy today. Mick Doohan is one of the most famous Australian sportsmen having been crowned MotoGP world champion five times and winning 54 Grand Prix races between 1989 and 1999. He also has set a number of motorcycling world records and has been awarded numerous honours in recognition of his outstanding motorcycle racing career.
Renzo Lunardi, Senior Vice President Commercial Business Unit, AgustaWestland said “Mick Doohan was the fastest rider on the racetrack for many years and we are delighted to hand over this Grand helicopter, which is the fastest light twin helicopter. The Grand helicopter offers unequalled safety and reliability and we are sure he has chosen the best aircraft to meet his transport requirements. Like Mick Doohan the Grand symbolises a winning lifestyle and world beating performance.”
The Grand is a new top-of-the-range light twin helicopter developed to meet a wide range of market requirements and provides levels of cabin space and payload that until now could only be met by larger, more expensive helicopters. Orders for over 220 helicopters have been placed by almost 130 customers in almost 30 countries worldwide to perform many tasks including corporate and VIP transport, air ambulance and SAR.
