Sydney Airport donates $10,000 to Lifestart

Sydney Airport Corporation Limited (SACL) today presented a cheque to Kate McDermott-Tight, Coordinator of the Lifestart East organisaton. The money will go directly toward the cost of providing early intervention services for children at the facility. Lifestart East is the only site based early intervention service available to children with developmental disabilities in the entire eastern suburbs region of Sydney. Rod Gilmour, General Manager Corporate Affairs for Sydney Airport who presented the cheque to Lifestart emphasized how important it was for business to help out worthy causes.

"We’re really proud to be involved with an organization like Lifestart – which provides specially targeted therapy services to children with developmental disabilities in both individual and group settings at the earliest possible age.  Caring for the needs of the most vulnerable is of vital importance", Mr Gilmour said.

Kate McDermott-Tight said " Lifestart Eastern Sydney is the only site-based early childhood intervention service in the eastern suburbs. Our works is supported by research which shows it is imperative that young children with special needs receive therapy and education through play to enhance their development.  We would be unable to continue our work with families and children without the generous support of sponsors, in particular Sydney Airport Corporation Limited.

The Lifestart donation is part of Sydney Airport’s community investment program which includes financial support for educational and environmental programs in local schools,   sponsorship of junior sporting teams and a variety of local charities.
