Singapore Airlines Offers Enhanced Mobile Flight Information Service

29 March 2007 - Singapore Airlines is requesting customers to provide their mobile phone contact at the time of reservation, and asking travel agents to ensure that this information is sent through to the airline as part of the process of making reservations for clients. The information will support the introduction of an enhanced mobile flight information service that alerts the customers, ahead of time, if their flight is re-timed. Customers will receive a text message on their mobile phone from the Airline (only if  there is a significant change in flight time).  The SMS will indicate the new flight time, and will be sent between three and 48 hours prior to the original flight time.

This SMS service is available to all Singapore Airlines customers*, with the exception of customers using mobile services in Japan and Korea, which operate on different networks.

The enhanced mobile flight information service is designed to minimise the inconvenience caused to customers in the event of a significant change in flight time known ahead of departure.

It replaces the Airline’s original “Arrivals & Departures Alert” service, which was available only to frequent flyers and customers who have registered for the flight alert service and registered their mobile numbers on the Singapore Airlines website.

To utilize the service, PPS and KrisFlyer club members, and registered members of the Singapore Airlines website only have to log in to singaporeair.com to provide, or update, their mobile phone numbers in their profile. This service would then be available to them on all their future Singapore Airlines flights.

Other customers can also enjoy this mobile information service simply by indicating their mobile phone numbers on singaporeair.com or to their travel agents when booking their tickets.

This mobile flight information service is part of Singapore Airlines’ ever-improving suite of mobile services, developed to offer customers a hassle-free pre-flight experience when traveling with the Airline.

Mobile Services And Self-Service Options

Singapore Airlines suite of mobile services enables customers to perform a series of useful functions using their mobile devices. This includes checking-in for flights and obtaining information on Singapore Airlines’ flight schedules.

KrisFlyer members can also access information on the frequent flyer programme in addition to receiving redemption waitlist alerts.

These services are supported by most commonly used mobile devices including GPRS-enabled phones, PDAs, and i-mode mobile phones (for use in Japan). Customers only have to pre-register at singaporeair.com.

The Airline also has a range of self-service options that offer customers complete flexibility and convenience when checking-in for their flights.

In addition to the popular Internet check-in facility, the Airline has recently launched the self-printed 2D boarding pass programme that enables customers to complete the check-in process in the comfort of their own home or office.

Alternatively, customers also have the option of bypassing the queues at the airport by opting for the self-service check-in machines (Auto Check-in Machines) installed at Changi Airport’s Terminal 2, and soon, at other airports.
