With these flights, Iberia is strengthening its position in the Russian market, where it also offers a variety of Madrid-Moscow services, currently two return flights each day. Iberia launched its St. Petersburg route last summer, chiefly to meet demand from vacationers. From June to October it carried nearly 7,000 passengers, with a seat occupancy rate of more than 60%.
