31/01/07: Asia to Host Upcoming Global Civil-Military Air Traffic Summit – Seeking solutions to conflicts in shared airspace

AEROTHAI, Thailand’s organization responsible for airport and area control services, will host the Civil Military Air Traffic Management Summit (CMAC ‘07) in Bangkok, February 26-March 1, at the Millennium Bangkok Hilton Hotel. This first CMAC to be held in Asia is sponsored by the Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA), the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE), and the U.S. Department of Defense, with support from the US Federal Aviation Administration.

31/01/07: Thielert engine in next development stage

Lichtenstein/Germany – The aircraft engine manufacturer Thielert Aircraft Engines GmbH from Saxony, Germany has presented the next development stage to its successful kerosene piston aircraft engine Centurion 1.7 – namely, the Centurion 2.0. This new, further optimized engine will be used from now on for all installations. Customers whose aircraft are currently equipped with a Centurion 1.7 can replace this at the end of its life time with a Centurion 2.0 without any problems, since the installation kits are compatible. Various product enhancements have been incorporated into the new engine, including the increase in displacement aimed at meeting the requirements of the US market. In the wake of the increase in demand for kerosene piston aircraft engines, Thielert is also continuously expanding its service and sales network.

31/01/07: Comlux places repeat order for two A318 Elites

VVIP charter operator Comlux has placed a firm order for two more Airbus A318 Elites, taking its total orders for the type to five and making it – together with an undisclosed client - the joint largest customers. Comlux is a launch customer for the A318 Elite, and will be the first to take delivery of one. Its first A318 Elite is currently being outfitted by Lufthansa Technik, which is equipping the initial aircraft of the type, and will be delivered this spring. All of Comlux’s A318 Elites are powered by CFM International CFM56-5s.

31/01/07: EADS and A*STAR to cooperate in National Aerospace Programme: commitment to Singapore as an R&T location - Tier 1 membership envisaged

Singapore, 31 January 2007 – European aerospace leader EADS is ramping up its Research and Technology (R&T) activities with Singaporean partners. The company will join Singaporean research agency A*STAR (Agency for Science, Technology and Research) in its National Aerospace Programme. A respective Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Wednesday by Dr. Ulrich Schnaut, Chief Operating Officer of the EADS Singapore Research & Technology Centre (SRTC) and Professor Chong Tow Chong, Executive Director of the Science & Engineering Research Council of A*STAR. This MoU envisages a tier 1 membership for EADS in the programme, along with other international aerospace companies.

31/01/07: Boeing-led Team Responding to Request for Proposals for AMF JTRS Design

ST. LOUIS, Jan. 31, 2007 — A Boeing-led [NYSE: BA] team is preparing a response to a Request for Proposals (RFP), released on Jan. 26, from the U.S. Department of Defense for system design and development of its Airborne and Maritime/Fixed Station Joint Tactical Radio System (AMF JTRS). Boeing and its best-of-industry teammates — Rockwell Collins, Harris, L-3 Communications, BBN Technologies, Northrop Grumman and Milcom Systems Corporation — have supported the AMF JTRS pre-system design and development phase since 2004. The Boeing team expects to respond to the RFP within 45 days, as required. Contract award is anticipated to occur by July 2007.

EADS CASA Boom has been deployed on progressive steps from stowed position to its nominal trail position and Hoist and extension/retraction actuation systems have properly performed. Boom envelope has also been expanded in roll and first evaluation of boom flight handling qualities have been carried out. All expected flight test objectives have been covered without any deviation from expected results.

31/01/07: Qantas Airways Continues To Build Bombardier Q400 Aircraft Fleet With An Order For Two More Aircraft

Toronto, January 30, 2007 - Q400 Turboprop Program Records Order For 200th Aircraft. Bombardier Aerospace announced today that Australia’s Qantas Airways has placed a firm order for two 72-seat Bombardier Q400 high-speed turboprop airliners on behalf of its QantasLink regional airline. The transaction represents the conversion of two options taken when Qantas ordered seven Q400 aircraft in January, 2005. Those seven aircraft have been delivered. The value of the contract announced today based on Q400 aircraft list prices is approximately $53 million US.

31/01/07: Bombardier Learjet 60 Sets World Speed Record In Middle East

Dubai, UAE, January 30, 2007 - The popular Bombardier Learjet 60 midsize jet – recognized worldwide for its legendary performance and value – today set a world speed record in its class, flying Jeddah-Dubai non-stop, in exactly two hours. The flight is fully sanctioned by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI). TEMPE, Ariz., Jan. 31 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — US Airways (NYSE: LCC) today withdrew its offer to merge with Delta Air Lines Inc. (OTC: DALRQ). The airline was informed earlier today that the Official Unsecured Creditors’ Committee would not meet its demands by the airline’s established deadline of Feb. 1, 2007.
