Marignane, 31 July 2006 - The government of New-Zealand announced today a firm order for 9 NH90 to provide 8 operational helicopters to the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF). The NH90 has been selected by New-Zealand in April 2005 as the replacement helicopter for the RNZAF ageing Iroquois. A signing ceremony took place in Wellington with Hon Phil Goff, Minister of Defence of New-Zealand in presence of Philippe Harache, Eurocopter’s Senior Executive Vice President.

31/07/06: Bombardier Delivers First Two CRJ900 Jets To Skywest Airlines

Toronto, July 31, 2006 - Bombardier Aerospace has delivered the first two Bombardier CRJ900 regional jets to SkyWest Airlines, a subsidiary of SkyWest Inc. of St. George, Utah. Of SkyWest Inc.’s 17 firm orders for CRJ900 aircraft, the first six are scheduled to be delivered to SkyWest Airlines in 2006. SkyWest Airlines now operates all three variants of the industry-leading regional jet, the others being the Bombardier CRJ200 and Bombardier CRJ700 aircraft.

31/07/06: Boeing Delivers First 737 with Enhanced Short Runway Package to GOL

SEATTLE, July 31, 2006 – Boeing [NYSE: BA] on Friday delivered to GOL, Brazil’s low-fare, low-cost airline, the first Next-Generation 737 with enhanced short runway landing and takeoff capabilities. The 737-800 is the first of that model type delivered to GOL as the carrier augments capacity on domestic and regional international routes. It also is the first delivery of 67 737-800s the all-Boeing carrier has on order for delivery out to 2012. The airline currently operates 50 737s.

31/07/06: Boeing Delivers Jade Cargo’s First 747-400ER Freighter

SEATTLE, July 31, 2006 — Boeing [NYSE: BA] today delivered the first 747-400ER (Extended Range) Freighter to enter the fleet of Jade Cargo International. Jade Cargo, based in Shenzhen, China, is the first cargo airline in China with foreign ownership. The new cargo airplane is the first of six that Jade Cargo ordered in 2005. The carrier plans to put the airplane into operation in the first week of August.

31/07/06: Bombardier Signs Algeria’s Tassili Airlines For Four Q400 Airliners

Toronto, July 31, 2006 - Tassili Airlines to become 17th Q400 Operator. Bombardier Aerospace announced today that Tassili Airlines of Algiers, Algeria has signed a contract for four 74-seat Q400 turboprop airliners. The airline is the first Q400 customer in Algeria and the second in Africa. The value of the contract based on list prices is $103 million US. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2007.

31/07/06: Boeing Continues Progress on Bringing New 777 Freighter to Market: Design milestone is important step toward first 777 Freighter for Air France

SEATTLE, July 31, 2006 – The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] progressed with development of the new 777 Freighter by completing firm configuration of the airplane’s design recently. Boeing reached this significant milestone after months of collaboration with airline customers and program partners to determine the optimal configuration for the new cargo airplane. Achieving firm configuration means that Boeing has completed major trade studies to finalize the airplane’s overall capability. This allows Boeing and its suppliers to begin detailed design of parts, assemblies and other systems for the 777 Freighter. The detailed designs will then be released to Boeing factories and its suppliers to begin production of the new cargo airplane.

31/07/06: Airport Authority hosts colorful suitcase art exhibit by local adults with developmental disabilities at San Diego International Airport

SAN DIEGO — July 27, 2006 — The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority has commissioned and installed a unique suitcase art exhibit from Sophie’s Gallery, a division of St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center for developmentally disabled adults. The Airport Authority launched the exhibit with a ceremony in the baggage claim area of Terminal 2 of San Diego International Airport on Tuesday, July 26, in honor of the 16th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), signed into law July 26, 1990. The installation features embellished suitcases, hatboxes, cosmetic cases and purses in the motif, Passageways: Life’s Journey. The “journeys” range from figurative renditions of travel to faraway places, to abstract journeys of the soul and spirit, all expressed through paint, buttons, fabric and other adornments. The exhibit will be on display for public viewing until October.

From August until the end of October, Finnair will be flying passengers to its destinations in China at a rate of over 100 flights per month. Finnair has daily scheduled frequencies to Beijing and Shanghai, five flights a week to Hong Kong and four a week to Guangzhou.

Brussels, 31 July 2006: MK Airlines has recently signed a contract with Aviapartner Cargo for the provision of handling services in Ostend, for its 6 weekly flights operated with B747-200. Aviapartner provides the full range of cargo-handling services to MK Airlines in Ostend, including warehousing, ULD build-up and breakdown, inventory control, documentation for import and export, customs clearance, cargo transport to and from aircraft, tracing, airfreight trucking services, dangerous goods and live animal handling, and cargo security. Since 17 July, Aviapartner Cargo has been providing these services in an MK Airlines dedicated warehouse, equipped with an automatic ULD transport and loading-unloading system.

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – The Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center becomes the Cheyenne Mountain Directorate as part of an ongoing effort to improve the operational effectiveness of the North American Aerospace Defense Command and United States Northern Command, according to NORAD and USNORTHCOM officials. The change will better integrate NORAD and USNORTHCOM functions, tasks, missions and operations to protect American and Canadian citizens. “I directed the formation of a team to take a hard look at the operational practices of NORAD and USNORTHCOM. I asked them to consider methods of improving our effectiveness and enhancing unity of effort,” said Adm. Timothy J. Keating, commander of NORAD and USNORTHCOM.

31/07/06: Two Missing Boaters Located Safely on Shore

Two men boating in a 14-foot aluminum boat in Rennell Sound, off the West Coast of the Queen Charlotte Islands, were reported overdue to the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Victoria late Sunday night, 30 Jul. In addition to being overdue, one of the men had an existing medical condition and did not have his medication with him. The JRCC launched Air Force and Coast Guard assets in response.
