28/02/06: The EC145 serves Law Enforcement and EMS Operators worldwide – Strong Increase in Order Intake

The EC145, which excels in terms of cabin space and versatility, has firmly established itself as a rugged, reliable workhorse in the law enforcement and EMS markets worldwide. Orders presently stand at 95 aircraft, and more than 75 have already entered service. In 2005, new orders for a total of 20 EC145s were booked, predominantly in the American and European EMS (Emergency Medical Services) and law enforcement markets. The annual production rate will be increased from presently 19 per year to 25 in 2006.

28/02/06: Eurocopter’s EC 135, the best-selling light Twin worldwide, gets new Upgrade Certification: More Payload, More Performance, More Range

Eurocopter’s order book for the EC 135 topped 500 units at the end of 2005, with 87 aircraft sold in 2005 alone. Fifty percent of them were for the USA. It is the company’s top seller and the best-selling light twin-engined helicopter worldwide. To stay ahead of the competition, Eurocopter has certified an increased take-off weight of 2,910 kg (from formerly 2,835 kg). LBA/EASA certification was granted on February 21, 2006. Deliveries will start as of late September 2006. For customers operating the new variant, which is designated EC 135 T2i or P2i respectively, the benefits are evident: More payload, more performance, more range.

RealAir Simulations have released a new Scout, Decathlon and Citabria Tail-Dragger package. The release includes the Scout Tundra and Amphibian, with 5 distinctive aircraft types and a total of 22 liveries, all with RealAir’s Ultra Smooth Gauge Technology and an updated version of their “RealView” pilot inertia system. 28/02/06: Global Hawk Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Returns After More Than 4,800 Flight Hours in Fight Against Terrorism

EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif., Feb. 21, 2006 — A Global Hawk unmanned aerial vehicle, the workhorse of the U.S. Air Force’s reconnaissance fleet in the fight against terrorism, returned here today after 167 missions and more than 4,800 flight hours in Southwest Asia. The RQ-4 Global Hawk high-altitude reconnaissance system is designed and produced by Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC). Northrop Grumman’s Global Hawk UAV-3 returns to Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., after 167 missions and more than 4,800 flight hours in the fight against terrorism.

Lionheart Creations has just released the ‘Classic Bellanca Collection’. This is a moderately sized super-pack of 5 of Bellanca’s classics that once filled the skies of America. 28/02/06: Prototype Airborne Spacing Director to Minimise Pilot Speed Actions

The Experimental Centre has prototyped a cockpit tool for reducing the frequency of speed changes suggested to a pilot tasked with maintaining a required time spacing behind a lead aircraft. The tool, called an airborne spacing director, could in future enable the flight crew to maintain spacing behind a lead aircraft more accurately and consistently than is achieved by air traffic control (ATC) today. Human-in-the-loop simulations based on Paris airspace have demonstrated that airborne spacing sequencing and merging can produce a smoother, more expeditious and orderly flow of traffic than is achieved through conventional ATC instructions (e.g. speed and heading).

28/02/06: Bell Helicopter Logs Record Number of Orders Over Past 14 Days

DALLAS, February 28, 2006 - The Helicopter Association International (HAI) wrapped up its Annual Convention today in Dallas, Texas and for Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company it was a record breaking show for helicopter orders. The success of Bell Helicopter at HAI is indicative of the positive growth Bell has experienced recently. Bell Helicopter took orders for 100 aircraft during the three-days of HAI, nearly tripling its number from last year. Coupled with the recent Asian Aerospace show held in Singapore, during the past 14 days, Bell has booked 140 helicopter orders.
